Report an injury

This is the single most important thing you can tell your coach. It drives every safety decision, and your plan changes immediately.

Reporting one

  1. Open your limitations

On Home, find LIMITATIONS and tap MANAGE, or the + REPORT on the card. Either one opens the list.

  2. Tap REPORT in the header

That is the form itself. The extra tap catches people out, so if you expected to be typing already, this is where you are going.

The limitations screen listing a poor sleep flag and a right knee injury, each with a seriousness slider
  3. Choose the type and name it

Injury or Fatigue, then a preset such as a knee, a shoulder, poor sleep or work stress. If none fits, tap Other and describe it. Your coach checks what you type before it is accepted.

  4. Say how serious it is

The slider runs from Cleared to Serious. Add a note if there is something specific your coach should avoid, such as how it flares up. Then tap Add.

Your plan is rebuilt straight away and you are taken back to Home while it runs.

As it gets better

Do not delete it. Move its seriousness slider down instead, from Flaring up to Monitoring to Almost healed, and let your coach bring the load back gradually.

Each change is provisional until you tap Save, which rebuilds your plan around where you are now.

What it is not

Your coach is a training tool, not a medical service. It will not tell you what is wrong with you and it will not suggest treatment. It keeps your training conservative around what you have reported and tells you to see a physio or a doctor.

For anything alarming, such as chest pain, fainting or a head injury, stop training and get help. Do not adjust a session and carry on.

Common questions

How quickly does my plan change?
Immediately. Reporting an injury is the one change allowed to rewrite any day, including tomorrow, because training through something the coach does not know about is the thing this feature exists to prevent.
What should I put for something that is not an injury?
Use the Fatigue type for tiredness, poor sleep, stress or coming back from illness. For anything else, tap Other and describe it. Life events belong here too.
What do the seriousness levels mean?
They run from Cleared through Almost healed, Monitoring and Flaring up to Serious. Move the slider as something improves rather than deleting and re-adding it, so your coach can ease you back rather than jumping straight to full load.
Will my coach still test me on an injured area?
No. While an injury is Flaring up or Serious, or your note rules out running, impact or loading ("no running", "can't run", "no jumping", "no heavy lifting"), your coach leaves that area out of your first-week measurements and your benchmark sessions. An injury that is not on one body part, and postpartum, count for every area. In the first week a running test becomes a SkiErg or rowing piece where that is safe; otherwise that session is not measured and stays short.
Will my coach still schedule a race simulation?
Not while an injury is Flaring up or Serious, or your note rules out running, impact or loading ("no running", "can't run", "no jumping", "no heavy lifting"). Your coach swaps a planned simulation for easier work that spares the injury, and skips the HYROX benchmark too. One you moved or adjusted yourself stays yours to change or delete. Simulations come back once the injury eases.
I moved a slider and nothing happened.
Changes to seriousness and removals are not live until you tap Save at the bottom. The app asks before letting you leave with unsaved changes.
Does clearing an injury also rebuild the plan?
Yes. Saying you are better matters as much as saying you are hurt, so your coach reworks the plan to bring the load back.

Still stuck

Open the app, go to You, and tap the feedback row at the bottom. It reaches a person, not a queue. Or write to hello@smashcoach.app.
