Accounts and signing in
One account, created at the end of sign-up, either with Google or with an email address and a password.
One account, created at the end of sign-up, either with Google or with an email address and a password.
The last step of sign-up offers Continue with Google, with an email and password form behind the OR USE EMAIL line. Either way you agree to the health and safety sheet before the account exists.
After you pick your Google account you come back to that last screen while a message says Signing you in with Google… It takes a few seconds, then the app opens and your coach starts building your plan.
If that Google account already has a plan, nothing you just answered is saved over it. You land back on the welcome screen, already signed in, and LOG IN takes you to your training.
If an email address you type already has an account, the screen says so and offers to take you to sign-in instead. Your training is waiting there.
Eight characters is the only length rule. There is no requirement for capitals, numbers or symbols, so a memorable phrase is both easier and stronger than something short and cryptic.
One password will be refused whatever its shape. If yours has appeared in a public data breach you get: That password shows up in a known data breach. Choose a different one. A short phrase with a number works well. That is about the password, not about you, and picking another one fixes it.
Sign up with an email address and you are in the app straight away, carrying a Confirm your email task on Home until you open the link we send.
Confirm it. Until you do there is no password to sign in with anywhere else, so the phone you signed up on is the only way back into the account, and an unconfirmed account is deleted after thirty days. The task can resend the email or change the address if you mistyped it.
Go to the sign-in page and use the same method you signed up with. The page is sign-in only, so a new athlete goes through sign-up instead.
If your email and password do not match, the screen reminds you that an account created with Google has no password of its own.
Tap Forgot password? on the sign-in page and enter your address. The confirmation is the same whether or not an account exists, which is deliberate: it stops anyone using the form to find out who has an account.
The email carries a link that opens a page where you set a new password and are signed straight in. The link works once and expires, so request a fresh one if it has been sitting in your inbox. That page cannot be reached from inside the app, only from the email.
Open the app, go to You, and tap the feedback row at the bottom. It reaches a person, not a queue. Or write to hello@smashcoach.app.
