Which watches are supported
Most Garmin watches that run Connect IQ apps, from several generations back to the newest models. Apple Watch is not supported.
The short answer
If your Garmin runs Connect IQ apps and is not very old, it is almost certainly covered. Support goes back to roughly the fenix 5 Plus and Forerunner 245 generations.
The families that work:
- fenix, from the 5 Plus through the 6, 7 and 8 ranges to the whole fenix 9 series, Pro and Solar variants included.
- Forerunner, including the 55, 245, 255, 265, 645, 745, 945, 955 and 965, and the newest 170, 570 and 970.
- epix, including the Pro sizes.
- Enduro, first generation through the third.
- Instinct, Descent, Approach, quatix and tactix.
Check yours properly
The definitive list lives on the Connect IQ store listing, under Compatible Devices. It is kept up to date with every release of the watch app, which a page like this one cannot promise to be.
If your model is on that list, pairing will work. The page on pairing your watch walks through it.
Other brands
Garmin only for now. There is no Apple Watch, Polar, Suunto or Coros app. If one arrives it will get its own section here.
Common questions
- Does it work with the fenix 9?
- Yes. The whole fenix 9 range is supported, including the Pro and Solar variants.
- Does it work with the Forerunner 570 or 970?
- Yes, along with the Forerunner 170. Those are the newest Forerunners and all three are covered.
- How do I check my own watch?
- Open the Smash Coach listing in the Connect IQ store and look under Compatible Devices. That list is maintained by us and is always current, which no page here can promise to be.
- Does it work with an Apple Watch?
- No. Garmin only at the moment. Everything else in the app works without a watch.
- The store page will not let me install it on my computer.
- That is Garmin, not us. Watch apps install through the Connect IQ app on your phone, and the store page says so when you open it on a laptop. Open the listing on your phone instead.
